Pat, Tim & Me

This is a piece put together utilising elements of our own work. We all teach on the Visual Communication pathway on the Foundation course at Stockport College. We wanted to make a piece of work as a gift to our retiring course leader Gillian Patterson who has been a great source of knowledge and support throughout all our time here. Let's hope she frames this beauty in her new home.
Looking at the work it's evident that we are all 'in tune' and we hope this comes across in the studio to our students.

Acetate, Old Cardboard Box and Scanner

Yeah I know I said I wasn't using the Mac but it's the 21st Century for Heavens sake! It's about getting the balance right, here are a couple of experiments, what will come of this I don't know.

A Detail

I've been making a few pieces of late with alot going on in them, working very freely, just responding to what I put down. I then like to pick out or find smaller areas. From one image several interesting compositions can be found. It's a great way to generate work and produces plenty of interesting results. I have been heavily influenced by the design group 8vo and in particular their early work in the 1980's for Factory of which The Durutti Columns Circuses and Bread cover is just brilliant. The 3 members worked on the collage for the sleeve together each responding to what the others put down.
